GCI Founding President Mikhail Gorbachev meeting Editor Claire Elizabeth Terry
As the world today contains a diverse set of cultures, religions and perceptions of life, the new book “The Art of Living – A Practical Guide to Being Alive” highlights the different cultural responses to life through contributions from well-known cultural figures from around the world, including Mikhail Gorbachev, the Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, Federico Mayor Zaragoza and Sir Richard Branson.
In his contribution, GCI President Mikhail Gorbachev calls for a new Glasnost for the planet, “one that will inspire its citizens to become actively involved today for a better tomorrow”. He also highlights the need for “solidarity of a higher order than that of previous models found in small groups, communities and social movements”.
The book is the brainchild of Claire Elizabeth Terry, a travel writer and former stage-manager in British theater and the result of her collaboration with the Friends of UNESCO Barcelona, Caixa Catalunya Obra Social and the Foundation for a Culture of Peace with all the proceeds of the book going to Green Cross International. The aim of the book is to promote cultural awareness and tolerance with the hope of providing a sense of solidarity among cultures and peoples.
