Environmental education handbook endorsed at G8 Environment Ministers Meeting

The three-day G8 Environment Ministers Meeting was concluded on Monday, May 26 in the city of Kobe, Japan. While the main issues of emission reduction targets and sustainable development were discussed at the Environment Ministers Meeting, a side meeting called the Children’s Environment Summit stressed the importance of environmental education in solving global environmental issues in the future.

The Children’s Environment Summit and G8 Environment Ministers Meeting saw the distribution of 2,000 environmental education handbooks called To Save Our Planet: Environmental Education Handbook for Children, inspired from the successful Green Lane Environmental Diary (see images of handbook below). Produced by the Ministry of Environment, the environmental education handbooks were distributed in both conferences to children and government officials from 21 different countries in both conferences. Available in English and using the Green Lane Environmental Diary content, this environmental education handbook aims to reach classrooms around the world to educate children and youth about environmental issues and to promote sustainable lifestyle practices worldwide.
