Green Drop Award Film Festival

Dates: 4-7 September

Venue: Venice, Italy
Green Cross Italy and the Municipality of Venice are staging the inaugural Green Drop Award, which is associated with the 69th Venice International Film Festival.
The president of the Green Drop Award Jury will be the filmmaker Ermanno Olmi, who won the Golden Lion in 2008.
The Green Drop Award will be awarded to one of 18 films that have been entered into the competition and is deemed as best portraying the values of ecology and sustainable development, with particular attention to the preservation of the planet and its ecosystems for future generations, to lifestyle and to the cooperation between peoples.
The actual award will be the creation of a master glassmaker and represent a drop of water, inside of which contains soil that each year will come from a different country. In 2012 the soil comes from Brazil, where the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio +20, was held in June 2012.
