Five-Year Review Conference of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty

The 2015 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) will be held from 27 April to 22 May 2015 at UN Headquarters in New York.

The Treaty was a landmark in interntional relations history when it entered into force in 1970. It was the first international commitment to disarmament. The objective today is to move further towards nuclear disarmament, promote cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and avoid the spread of nuclear weapons armament and technology. A review conference has been held every five years since the implementation of the Treaty.
