June 8: World Oceans Day

The world celebrated Oceans Day on June 8, and a wide range of stakeholders came together at the European Space Agency in Paris to discuss the state of the Oceans and the Blue Economy ahead of the December Paris Climate Conference.

Green Cross International COO Adam Koniuszewski said that: “Oceans are at the forefront of climate change. From sea level rise to growing acidity from carbon pollution or overfishing, the attack on oceans is unprecedented. An urgent and ambitious effort that puts oceans at the center of climate action is needed. This conference is an important step in this direction.”
