Why Poverty Reduction Depends on Environmental Protection

Adam Koniuszewski, Chief Operating Officer of Green Cross International, spoke to the UNAIDS-founded collaborative online project Daily Development about the post-2015 sustainable development agenda, the relationship between environmental protection and poverty reduction, and his expectations for the future of the climate.

“At a time when it is increasingly difficult for the United Nations to achieve progress through multilateral agreements,” Koniuszewski said, “the bottom up approach, participatory process, consensual and voluntary nature of ambitious and relevant sustainable development goals can be the starting point for what can become truly sustainable development.”
