21st Session of Chemical Weapons Convention Conference now underway

The Conference of the States Parties (CSP) to the Chemical Weapons Convention is holding its Twenty-First Session (CSP-21) from Monday 28 November to Friday 2 December 2016 at the World Forum (Churchillplein 10, The Hague) located next to OPCW Headquarters. Paul Walker, Green Cross Environmental Security and Sustainability Director, coordinates the Chemical Weapons Convention Coalition (CWCC), an international NGO network brought together to support the Chemical Weapons Convention and OPCW, and which ensures civil society is represented in OPCW deliberations. This group has grown to over 150 members and is now an established part of discussions about the CWC.

The CSP oversees the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention, promotes the treaty’s objectives and reviews compliance with the treaty. The Conference is composed of representatives of all Member States of the OPCW, each of which has one vote. The CSP meets annually for one week in The Hague. For more information, or to watch the conference, see https://csp21.opcw.org
