Mikhail Gorbachev resigns from GCI Board

Mikhail Gorbachev has resigned from his position on the Board of Green Cross International and simultaneously renounced his title of Founding President.

“This was a difficult decision to take given the role of GCI in my life, however the present circumstances do not leave me any other choice,” said Gorbachev. He leaves, “in great sadness and with unwavering respect to all my friends and supporters,” because he does not want to give any legitimacy to the developments that are taking place in the organization.

Following the resignation of President Gorbachev, GCI Treasurer Sander Mallien and the newly elected Chairman Jean-Michel Cousteau also resigned.
