Earth Charter Side Event

Title of side event: An ethical framework for global governance

Date and time: 17 June, 11.30am-1pm 

Venue: RioCentro Convention Center, Room T-6, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Event synopsis: For more than 30 years, the international community, through different international declarations (e.g Rio Declaration, Johannesburg Declaration, the Earth Charter), have been trying to find shared ethical principles that can help us as humanity to make decisions for our current situation. These principles will be foundational for the governance system for sustainability that is going to be discussed during Rio+20 Summit. The objective of this side event is to have an open discussion about how important it is to agree on common ethical principles for a global governance system for sustainability.
