In honour of the 10th anniversary of the Earth Charter, an online video campaign “It Starts With One” has been created to inform people about the Earth Charter principles.
Developed by volunteers of the Earth Charter Communications Task Force, the campaign consists of two videos. The first video demonstrates how to use and share the principles of the Earth Charter while the second video provides more information about the Earth Charter.
The campaign is based on the idea that change begins with the individual. The goal is to foster a sense of “Earth Citizenship,” where the interest of the planet is placed above the individual.
The campaign also includes a 60 second TV spot with versions in three languages (English, Spanish and Portuguese), print ads, a radio spot and banners.
The Earth Charter is a declaration of the fundamental principles for building a just society with a special emphasis on the world’s environmental challenges. GCI Founding President Mikhail Gorbachev and Maurice Strong, the Secretary-General of the Earth Summit and Chairman of the Earth Council launched the Charter in 1994, which was completed in 2000.
