Hauke Ahrend, born in 1987 in Hamburg, Germany, is participating in the Earth Dialogues for the first time. Growing up close to the area that is supposed to become Germany’s first permanent storage site for nuclear waste, he became interested in politics and environmental topics at an early age.

After attending school in Germany and the United States of America, he has studied business administration at the University of Mannheim and the University of St. Gallen (HSG), where he has earned his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in 2011. During his studies he has worked as an intern, mainly in the areas of risk management and business development, at PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG, AUDI and Lamoda and as a team leader at AIESEC.

Mr Ahrend is currently studying business management at the University of St. Gallen and writing his Master’s thesis on the topic of the future of the social market economy. He is also working as the Executive Assistant to the Managing Director at Lamoda. Lamoda is a leading fashion ecommerce company based in Moscow and active in Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.

Mr Ahrend’s main interests lie in the areas of education, environmental protection and the job market. He is also a member of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) and of oikos St. Gallen, an international student organization for sustainable economics and management.
