The new environmental documentary “Nous resterons sur Terre” or “Here to stay” featuring GCI Founding President Mikhail Gorbachev as well as GCI Honorary Board Member Wangari Maathai, environmentalist James Lovelock and philosopher Edgar Morin is now in French theaters. The film by filmmakers Olivier Bourgeois and Pierre Barougier looks at how humankind’s state of harmony with the planet has become unbalanced, raising the issues of urban sprawl, extinct species, depletion of natural resources and global warming.
Filmed over five years in 21 countries, the movie includes an extensive interview with Mr. Gorbachev including the founding of Green Cross International and his perspectives on the past and future for our planet. “We have to act, it is imperative for us all: whatever the country we live in, whatever the nation to which we belong, whatever our culture or our religion,” Mr. Gorbachev said in the movie. Today this is the question of questions.”
