Green Cross International President Alexander Likhotal was at the Ittihadeyya Palace, just outside Cairo, for the 17th Meeting of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Board of Trustees this weekend.
The new Bibliotheca Alexandrina is dedicated to recapturing the spirit of openness and scholarship of the original Library of Alexandria. As well as being a centre of excellence in the production and dissemination of knowledge in the digital age, and a place of dialogue, learning and understanding between cultures and peoples, the library was built to be the world’s window on Egypt and Egypt’s window on the world.
President Likhotal was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2014. The Library’s mandate to spread the culture of dialogue and tolerance through projects and activities, including numerous cultural and scientific events, is well matched to Green Cross International’s global mission.
The assembly took place in presence of His Excellency Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of Egypt.
