Graeme Maxton is the Secretary General of the Club of Rome, a global network of more than 100 renowned independent thinkers dedicated to addressing the problems facing humanity. He is the author of The End of Progress – How Modern Economics Has Failed Us, where he questions conventional ideas about the long-term prospects for economic growth, the sustainability of humankind’s resource use, the consequences of China’s rise and the West’s measures of progress.

He was previously regional director of the Economist Intelligence Unit in Asia, with Booz & Co, Citigroup and American Express, and was a visiting professor at Cass Business School from 1988 to 2002. After becoming a Full Member of the Club of Rome in 2013, he was elected Secretary General at the Annual Assembly in Mexico the following year.
