GREEN CROSS AND THE CHERNOBYL NUCLEAR DISASTER 26 YEARS ON
Green Cross led a high-level delegation to Chernobyl in late April 2012 to mark the 26th anniversary of the nuclear power plant disaster in that Ukrainian town and to raise awareness on the dangers posed by nuclear technology.
One place visited was the abandoned city of Prypyat, a virtual ghost town that was emptied of inhabitants shortly after the 26 April 1986 meltdown of reactor no. 4 at the nearby nuclear power plant.
