GREEN CROSS DAY
Building the Safe and Sustainable Societies of the Future
On 16 June, 2012, a special one-day event was held at the Getulia Vargas Foundation as part of Green Cross’ activites at the Rio+20 conference. The event comprised a rich day of activities, seminars and discussions involving a wide array of speakers and participants tackling critical issues concerning the planet’s sustainability, the challenges that drove civil society to urge President Mikhail Gorbachev at the 1992 Earth Summit to found a “Red Cross for the environment”, and the efforts being undertaken by multiple stakeholders to respond to the crises and opportunities facing the world today.
This event sought to offer rich insights and valuable perspectives to people concerned about the future of our planet.
