The President of Green Cross International, Alexander Likhotal, participated in the Peres Center for Peace 10th anniversary “New World, New Peace” event in Tel Aviv- Jaffa from 26 to 28 October. Mr. Likhotal was one of the speakers at the event as part of the panel “The World Food Crisis: Agriculture for Peacebuilding,” during which he gave a speech titled “Lacking Food or Lacking Vision?”
Other speakers on the panel included Professor Samuel Pohoryles, Deputy Director General of the Peres Center for Peace and Director of the Peres Center’s Agriculture, Water and Environment department; Professor Jeffrey Sachs, Director of Columbia’s Earth Institute (via video); Professor Ilan Chet, former President of the Weizmann Institute; Dr. Walid Abed-Rabboh, former Palestinian Minister of Agriculture; Guido Barilla, Chairman of Barilla Holdings; Dr. Bonnie Stewart, Executive Director of the Fred J. Hansen Institute for World Peace of San Diego State University Research Foundation; Eng. Fuad Abou-Hadb, General Supervisor of Egyptian Agriculture.
The panel was just one of the activities planned during the 3-day event that brought together over 300 people, including world leaders in the fields of politics, business, culture and sport to create a new agenda for peace in the Middle East.
