Green Cross Kuwait Environmental Assessment, 7 Year after the Gulf War

After the 1990-91 Gulf War, Green Cross undertook a multi-disciplinary postconflict environmental assessment in Kuwait, where 613 oil wells were set alight. The report, published in 1998, found that water contamination was the greatest concern, with 40% of freshwater reserves undrinkable seven years later. The fragile desert ecosystem was severely impacted by oil, oil mist and soot deposits.
