20 years after the 1992 Earth Summit, the world’s focus returned to Rio in the search for solutions to the challenges facing our planet and its people. The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 20-22 June 2012.
The event also marked the 20th anniversary since civil society delegates to the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio called on Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mikhail Gorbachev to create Green Cross International.
