The Green Cross Sweden Youth group raised nearly 6,000 euros at the Treevening benefit concert for the Peace and Reconciliation Project in Kenya. Jose Gonzales, Jaqee, Räfven and Hellsongs were among the artists that played at the Sticky Fingers rock club in Göteborg, Sweden 24 March.
The funds will used for the planting of peace trees in the Rift Valley in Kenya with Green Cross Sweden partner the Green Belt Movement. The event also sought to use the creative medium of music to instill Swedish youth with the message of peace and care for the environment.
“We wanted to combine our wish to do something constructive concerning important issues in our world, with something we enjoyed, something fun; our interest for music,” said one of the green Cross Sweden Youth group members. “Therefore we decided to do an event, a gala where different artist performed, where the ticket sales would go directly to the Peace and Reconciliation project, cooperation between Green Cross Sweden and Green belt movement, and where we could spread the message.”
