GREEN CROSS: TIGHTER CONTROLS NEEDED TO STOP TERRORISTS OBTAINING NUCLEAR MATERIALS

Green Cross International joined governments, civil society groups and industry representatives in The Netherlands where a series of meetings were held during 21-25 March 2014 on nuclear security.

Dr Paul Walker, Director of GCI’s Environmental Security and Sustainability programme, comments in this video on the 3rd Nuclear Security Summit, held 24-25 March in The Hague, where efforts to prevent the proliferation of nuclear and radioactive materials and their falling into the hands of terrorist groups was discussed. He also discusses the measures that need to be implemented to prohibit nuclear materials being obtained and converted into weapons, such as nuclear dirty bombs, and the role that civil society and business can play to support government non-proliferation efforts.
