Green Drop Award goes to Makers of The Fifth Season

Filmmakers Peter Brosens, from Belgium, and Jessica Woodworth, from the United States, (pictured) have won the 1st Green Drop Award, presented by Green Cross Italy, for their film The Fifth Season.

The Fifth Season was selected for the award from a field of 18 films that were entered into the competition. To select a winning film, judges were looking for a producation deemed to best portray the values of ecology and sustainable development, with particular attention to the preservation of the planet and its ecosystems for future generations, to lifestyle and to the cooperation between peoples.
The actual award was the creation of a master glassmaker and represent a drop of water, inside of which contains soil that each year will come from a different country. In 2012 the soil comes from Brazil, where the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio +20, was held in June 2012.
