Iraq conflict inflicts major tolls on environment, water scarcity

In a startling new study conducted by the Iraqi government, Iraq is losing between 5%-8% of GDP to environmental degradation each year, while the amount of water available per person has dropped by more than half since the late 1970s, according to the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

The obvious links between security, environmental damage, and human consequences, are made clear by this report, and underscore the mission of Green Cross International to respond to the nexus of these three challenges.
