KOFFI MATHIEU MAHIKA
He was born 21 July, 1963, in Ahua (Jacqueville) in Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) and is trained in communications and marketing.
Mr Mahika has held positions in several civil society organizations in Ivory Coast, including with Collectif des organisations non gouvernementales actives en Cote D`Ivoire (COGNACI), The Union of NGOs of Côte d’ Ivoire (l’Union des ONG de Côte d’Ivoire), and the Civil Society Platform of Côte d’ Ivoire.
He is a specialist in Environmental Impact Assessments and participated in drafting the first Strategic Document for Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper of Côte d’ Ivoire.
In 2002, he participated in the Rio+10 World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, South Africa, as a member of the official Côte d’ Ivoire delegation.
Mr Mahika has also worked as a teacher, director of publications at the Bulletin d’Information et de Sensibilisation Environnementale, an environmenal academic journal.
In 2004, Mr Mahika was a co-founder of a poverty reduction scheme, which involved holding an annual platform for banks to allow people to benefit from loans and assistance in various forms.
Mr Mahika is married with four children.
