Peace Nobel Laureates Forum: Green Cross International mainstreams environmental issues

The 9th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates that took place in Paris (11-13 December 2008), titled “Human rights and a World without violence,” aimed at raising awareness about the threat violence, poverty and a lack of resources have on basic human rights and on ensuring a peaceful future for the world. The Forum closed with a Final Declaration on the “state of human rights and the prospects for a world without violence.” Green Cross International, who held a successful panel session on “Water as a Human Right” on 11th December, was a major contributor to the Final Declaration, highlighting the environmental component in the process of buidling peace and achieving human rights.
