Quai Wilson photo exhibit launch, 1 September, 2012

On 1 September, 2012, Green Cross International and the City of Geneva launched the photographic exhibit titled Give Humanity a Chance, Give the Earth a Future along this Swiss city’s Quai Wilson promenade at Lake Geneva.

The exhibit, which will be in place for the month of September, was officially inaugurated at a ceremony at the Grand Hotel Kempinski by Green Cross International Founding President Mikhail Gorbachev, Mayor of Geneva Rémy Pagani, Green Cross International President Alexander Likhotal, a representative of United Nations Office in Geneva Director-General Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Philippe Matthey, Secretary-General of the Department of Interior, Transport and Environment for the Geneva Canton.

More than 70 people attended the launch event and hundreds of people have visited the outdoor exhibit, which consists of 100 panels featuring images contributed by professional environmental photographers from around the world.

Challenges ranging from climate change and nuclear weapons disarmament, to water scarcity and renewable energy are dealt with in the exhibit from locations such as the polar regions, South America, Iraq, Fukushima, Chernobyl, Ghana, South-East Asia and more.
