1.4 By 2030, ensure that all men and women, in particular the poor and the vulnerable, have equal rights to economic resources, as well as access to basic services, ownership and control over land and other forms of property, inheritance, natural resources, appropriate new technology and financial services, including microfinance.

Water for Life and Peace

GCI provides WHO standard drinking water to isolated and vulnerable communities ensuring they have a sustainable access to one of the most basic and fundamental resources for life.

1.5 By 2030, build the resilience of the poor and those in vulnerable situations and reduce their exposure and vulnerability to climate-related extreme events and other economic, social and environmental shocks and disasters.

Water for Life and Peace

GCI works with communities in regions vulnerable to water stress, to ensure they have durable and community managed water infrastructure. Providing safe and sustainable access to water builds communities’ social cohesion and resilience, making them more prepared in the face of shocks and disasters.

Environmental Security and Sustainability

GCI works with vulnerable communities affected by harmful chemicals and pesticides, and reduces their exposure by safely and responsibly disposing of hazardous waste. Our trainings nurture local expertise in the safe disposal of toxins, helping communities manage their local environment.

Value Change

GCI works with children around the world to raise awareness about environmental issues and thereby build understanding and resilience among the next generation about the environmental challenges they will inherit.

Social and Medical Care

GCI conducts public health programmes among communities vulnerable to chemical radiation and hazardous chemicals to help manage their exposure and provide livelihoods for those living with severe deformities.

1.a Ensure significant mobilization of resources from a variety of sources, including through enhanced development cooperation, in order to provide adequate and predictable means for developing countries, in particular least developed countries, to implement programmes and policies to end poverty in all its dimensions.

Water for Life and Peace

GCI advocates for transnational water co-operation through international frameworks, such as the 1997 UN Watercourses convention, which promotes development co-operation through the harmonious sharing of water resources.

Environmental Security and Sustainability

GCI nurtures local expertise by providing trainings in the safe disposal of toxins, helping communities – particularly in developing countries – manage local pollution to create a safe local environment.

1.b Create sound policy frameworks at the national, regional and international levels, based on pro-poor and gender-sensitive development strategies, to support accelerated investment in poverty eradication actions.
