In 2003, he was elected Member of the National Council, the House of Representatives in the Swiss Parliament, for the Green Party. He then co-founded the Greenliberal Party in 2004 and became its president in 2007. Earlier, Mr. Bäumle was elected Member of the City Council of his hometown Dübendorf, where he has served since 1998 as financial director.
Bäumle currently serves on the National Council’s Committee for Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy as well as on the Committee for Political Institutions. He co-chairs the parliamentarian groups Switzerland-Ukraine and Green Cross.
Since 2007 he has served as member of the Board of Directors of the Electricity Utilities of the Canton of Zurich (EKZ).
Mr. Bäumle earned a diploma from the ETH Zurich in chemistry and, additionally, undertook research in atmospheric science for four years. He began his professional career at a company for air pollution measurement and has been working in this field for over 10 years.
