For over 30 years Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bint Talal of Jordan has worked regionally, nationally and internationally to promote a range of global issues, most notably in the areas of human development, gender equity, and the well-being and development of children.

Her Royal Highness is particularly involved in supporting the implementation of sustainable development programmes that address the social and economic needs of marginalised groups.

Quote: “It is because our problems have taken on such global dimensions, that the implications for not responding to the problems are far greater. If the environment is not addressed, we implicate our survival on the planet. Equally, mass migration will place tremendous strains on our resources and cities. If living conditions are not improved for those in the developing world, if poverty is not alleviated and political unrest and upheavals calmed, then there will be implications for the most comfortable of industrialised countries. It is therefore everyone’s business.”
